Summer is finally here! It is such an amazing time of year! We look forward to it all year long!
Some people love summer so much they move to experience it year round. We hate those people in New York and doubt whether they are really Christians if they’re not willing to endure suffering. (Of course I’m only slightly kidding 🙂 )
When you think about the future do you think it will be better or worse than now?
If we were just basing our opinions on movies we would have to believe the future is a terrible place.
Spring has finally arrived in upstate New York…just in time for summer!
Spring is the season of hope. We are full of hope about the seeds we are planting and what they can become.
Have you ever noticed when you start something new every one cheers for you?
You announce what college you are going to and everyone celebrates and mama cries.
What’s on your bucket list? What are the things you’ve always dreamed about doing?
For the most part our bucket list items can be boiled down to visiting some place, experiencing a thrill, or owning something.
Have you ever noticed a need before and thought, “Someone should do something about this?” Or maybe you’ve asked, “Why isn’t someone addressing this problem?”
Maybe you’re concerned about racism, violence, sex trafficking, or the homeless and you feel society isn’t doing enough to help with this issue.
If you live in the Northeast you know the pessimistic saying, “There are only 2 seasons: Winter and road construction.” Neither season is much fun.
I often think about that saying when I hit a long construction delay on a trip during the summer.
We all long for deep friendships and as you know they don’t just magically happen. Even though friendships aren’t automatic there are key ingredients that help your relationships go to the next level.
One ingredient in particular is so important that without it you will never have deep friendships. Why? Because without this key ingredient your friendships will never last long enough to go deep.
Have you ever had to tell someone “no”? It’s never an enjoyable experience. You feel like you are letting someone down or disappointing them.
The reactions you receive from a “yes” and a “no” are just as opposite as your answer. When you say “yes” you become someone’s hero for the day. When you say “no” the sadness is just as visible as the “yes’s” excitement and gratitude. Seeing the look on your child’s face to a “no” requires nerves of steel to hold the line.
God is so good to us! We are constantly getting fresh starts. We typically think of fresh starts at the beginning of each year. But we get way more than just one a year.
We get a fresh start every month. If you are paid monthly you’re thankful for the new beginning. You may have messed up with your budget last month, but you get another chance to get it right this month.
